Hi there, If I understand you correctly, you don't need to physically migrate the site. That is, it is a WSS 3.0 site based upon one of the 40 Microsoft supplied sample applications, but it is already running on a MOSS 2007. Is that correct?
If so, there's a couple of things to note. You can never change the site template that the sub-site was created with - assuming it was created with a Site Template - some of the 40 applications are delivered as SharePoint solutions, some as site templates.
But if the WSS 3.0 site is installed on MOSS 2007, it should simply be a matter of activating the various MOSS 2007 Features that are installed at the Site Collection level. To do this go to the sub site, then to Site Settings > Site Features, and enable the MOSS features that you see there.
