With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. Hi all,

I have some code that alters user permissions of document library items on the ItemUpdated event.

I want SharePoint's 'Modified By' field to show the calling user rather than the System Account user.

I had a work around for this whereby I would make a pointless update to the item outside the context using the elevated privileges therefore updating the item a second time in the context of the calling user. I can't use this because it will fail with 'Access Denied' if the permissions are altered to not include the calling user - a situation which will not be all that rare.

I guess i have three questions:
1. What is the 'Modified By' field referred to as, 'Editor'?
2. Can it be set before the Update() event?
3. If yes how, if not can it be done!?
