Hello,  Looks like you need to specify the -ssppassword.  If you are using a domain account like you are you need to have the password option filled out.  Refer to this article for any clarification.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262773.aspx.

On the DB side is that an empty DB?  If not I don't think you can use it to create a new ssp, however you should be able to create the new ssp and then change the content db if you need too. This article explains it nicely.  Basically you can edit the SSP and find the DB settings and change it to an existing DB.

thank you....the ssppassword got rid of the message:
The specified credentials are invalid.
Parameter name: acount

However the
The specified database is not empty
still exists.

I have tried two different methods.
1st I entered the database name where the database name does not exists
2nd I entered the database name which exists and is empty
??

Does the server name or DB name have any spaces between the names?  Like Moss SQL Server or SSP Database?  If so try enclosing them in quotes.  Also it looks like those are optional parameters try just leaving them out and see what happens.

SQL server has allready DB for that name change DB name or delete it then it will work

The BIG question is why you want to create SharedServices in command line?
There is more better way to do it. Use that:

by: SimpleJPosted on 2009-06-16 at 23:05:10ID: 24645241

Yes I could create SSP in central administration but I can not select web application from there (the list contains only one web app.). Therefore I thought that I would create ssp in command line where I can specify the web app.name.

If I do not enter the sspdatabaseserver and sspdatabasename I get :

The specified database is not empty.
The specified database is not empty.

by: awong6687Posted on 2009-06-17 at 04:23:45ID: 24646897

In the central admin you are able to create a new web application for both mysite and SSP.  You should have a link to that says "Create a New Web Application" under .  In the command line leave out the parameter all together.

stsadm -o createssp -title PORTAL_SharedServices -url http://portal.domain.local/ -mysiteurl http://personal.domain.local:35157/ -ssplogin "domain\mosssvc" -indexserver <servername> -indexlocation "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Data\Office Se
rver\Applications" -ssppassword <password>

Try that.

Yes, I`ve tried this, except Create a New Web Application in Central administration. The reason why I do not want to use this action in central administration is because the portal is allready active and used by other users.

Therefore I want to create an SSP for an existing web aplication, but in central administration I can not select the web app. from the list.

the above command in cmd returns the sam result:
The specified database is not empty.
The specified database is not empty.

by: awong6687Posted on 2009-06-17 at 09:09:17ID: 24649765

that is weird.  Let me see what I can find.  That doesn't seem to make sense that the web app is created but cannot be seen by the ssp.  Maybe something else is going on as well.

by: awong6687Posted on 2009-06-18 at 11:07:52ID: 24660144

Is it possible to create 1 or 2 test web apps and for the ssp and mysite?

stsadm.exe o createssp title <SSP name> -url <Web application url> -mysiteurl <MySite Web application url> -ssplogin <username> -indexserver <index server> -indexlocation <index file path> -ssppassword <password> -sspdatabaseserver <SSP database server> -sspdatabasename <SSP database name>

by: SimpleJPosted on 2009-06-19 at 01:19:04ID: 24664580

I created a new web application and ssp with no problems. Hovever if it would be possible I would like to create an ssp for an existing application rather than creating ssp for a new web application.

by: awong6687Posted on 2009-06-19 at 05:44:37ID: 24665790

do you have a test server or development environment?  I would try and backup and restore the current web application to another environment and see if you can create and ssp with them.  It looks like there might be a problem with them in the current environment.  One other suggestion would be to recreate the web application in the current environment and reconnect it to the current db and see if that is able to be joined to an SSP.
