HI i have completed an upgrade from sharepoint 2.0 to 3.0.
However i cannot access my sharepoint site anymore. i can get into the central admin ok,
I cannot view the sharepoint page though - you are not autihorised, etc. It prompts me for a login but doesnt accept it. I think ive lost all my 2.0 data. HELP!!

in wss 3.0, you don't have access to the site automatically. only Farm Admins have access. bdpsq has given you the instructions for how to add yourself as a Farm Admin.
once you are a Farm Admin, you should be able to access the site. when you access the site, you can then go to the site settings and add users to the site so they have access.
i recommend that you review security in 3.0 because is significantly differs from 2.0

ok this is weird. i can get into central admin ok. i cannot access any of my previos sharepoint 2.0 pages or data. if i go to view all content in sharepoint 3.0 nothing is there.
if i try and access my old sharepoint link https:\\server:444 it prompts for a login but gives an unauthorised error. have i lost all my data?
did you add yourself to the Farm Admin group in Central Admin?
when you say "nothing is there" when you try to view 3.0 content, what do you mean? are you querying the Content Database in SQL? if you want to verify that your content exists, that is one way to do it. run a query on ALLDocs table, for example.
when you get the unauthorized error, what error is being recorded in Event Viewer on your sharepoint front end server?

hi,
by default administrators should have full access to the sharepoint site. perhaps you can try to log in using the default domain administrator account and amend the access rights from there?
alternatively, login to central admin > select "operations" > "update farm's administrator group" and add in the users you want to assign the admin rights to accordingly....
