Sharepoint stsadm and Forms Authentication

Hi,

I have a forms authentiacted WSS 3 site which is all setup and working well. I am trying to use the stsadm -o adduser command to add users but get "Access Denied". The command works fine on other Windows Athenticated sites but no matter what user I run the command line as, I cant get the stsadm -o adduser command to work with Forms Auth - can anyone help.
