Integrating Excel Document in Sharepoint 3.0 on SBS 2003 Server

We have excel documents we would like to centralize for our organization by allowing users to remotely edit excel documents via the companyweb.  Ideally we would like to use the the excel web service to edit and save files directly in the web interface without having to download the file and use the local excel application.  Is this possible?

Upto my knowlegde we can't do this operation. But in SharePoint, when you open the document it will ask you for different options depending on the document open/close status.

For example if a excel document is opened by another user then, if you want to try to open the same document then it will ask you like

1. You want to open it as read only because some other person (domainname\username) is opened the file

2. Save the file in local folder and Check-In after the completion of your updates....

and like wise.....
