I do have that set, but it doesn't seem to allow me... Perhaps I don't know HOW to go through the process of re-starting it. Could you tell me the steps?
Thank you!

Browse All TopicsI have a state workflow that was written in Visual Studio 2005. the workflow works fine and does what it is supposed to...it is attached to a sharepoint list. Most items in the sharepoint list go thru the states and end up in a closed state and that's where we leave them, however, the users have requested a way to be able to "re-open" an item and re-start the workflow on the item. I can set the state for the item back to what I would like for it to be, but the workflow appears "dead" and does not kick in. I guess when an item reaches the closed state, the workflow becomes inactive for that item? I thought there was a way to manually go into sharepoint and activate a workflow on an item, but I can't figure out how to do that.
So, my question: Is there a way (either manually in sharepoint or programmatically in the workflow) to be able to re-start a workflow on an item that has reached the closed state?

This looks promising! However, after I have started the workflow, the status becomes "In Progress" and it doesn't seem to change from that. Is there something special my workflow needs to do to handle this situation or does it know already what to do? In case you didn't notice, I'm new to the workflow scene. :)

Go to the settings of the workflow. There is a checkbox there which allows you to specify wether users can manually start that workflow.
