Browse All TopicsHi,
Has anybody had experience setting up a daily/weekly task monitoring system with sharepoint (MOSS 2007)? Here's what I've been tasked to do... I work in an organization with 10 people. We want to gather their daily routines, put them into task lists that get checked off as they do them, and have some accompanying documentation. The manager would like to be able to check on people's progress (to make sure they're doing they're jobs). Also, this system could be used if someone gets sick - the backup logs in, checks the sick person's task list, follows the instructions and bam, tragedy averted.
Thanks for any help!

Okay, first, thank you. I know what I want now. Here it is:
A document library. When user clicks on "New", an InfoForm is displayed that asks them qustions (I know how to create the infoPathForm thing). I need to know how to get the infoForm to fire when the "new" button is clicked (and perhaps get something in that menu that says "start workflow" (yes, i know this isn't a workflow, but it will make sense to a user if I call it that).
Thanks for continued help

what shortcomings are you running up against in using the standard Task List in sharepoint?

to extend the Task List a bit further, you could connect it to Outlook:

for other ideas for customizing the Task List (this walkthrough is using an older version of sharepoint so the screenshots won't match up to your sharepoint. however, the principles are the same in the current version of sharepoint):

and.. you might also consider using workflow to automate some processes... or to send alerts / emails.

and... check out some of the free templates... in particular, you might want to look at the Project Tracking template:
