How do I change the URL for SharePoint 2010 Siites
I am new to SharePoint. Have never used any version until now. I am setting up an Intranet site for my company.
The URL for the main site is http://shp000.domain.biz/SitePages/Home.aspx
The URL for the IT subsite is http://shp000:46936/IT/SitePages/Home.aspx
My manager wants me to change the URL so it resolves like below
Main site intranet.domain.com
Sub site intranet.domain.com/IT
Can someone tell me how to do this? I know a cname alias has to be put in the DNS server. I don't know what to do in sharepoint for the two sites.
Eventually I will have other sub sites I will have to do this with.

Sorry. My mistake on the URL. It should have been
http://shp000.domain.biz/SitePages/Home.aspx
http://shp000.domain.biz:46936/IT/SitePages/Home.aspx
http://shp000.domain.biz/SitePages/Home.aspx

I am really new to this and to IIS. This Intranet is internal only and we are not using a proxy server.

Disregard my comment about the mistake in the url. I did create two seperate urls. I am an idiot.
How do I set up alternate access mappings?
How do I set up alternate access mappings?
SO basically you want to move the IT site from where it is now, and put it on the other URL......right?
If so, you dont need to worry about Alt Access Map. You can just use the export and import commands.
