We plan on using SharePoint for an Intranet and then team sites, project sites, document management and so forth. However, all I ever hear about for host header naming is &quot;Portal, Team, Project.&quot;<br />

In the past, our intranet URLs have always been based on the server host name. <br />

I'm trying to find out what the best practice is on this. In my opinion, it should be something simple and generic, but definitive at the same time. <br />

Therefore, for an intranet host header, there has to be a better option than: <br />
