Local authentication on SharePoint 2010
I am running SharePoint 2010 on a virtual server using SQL 2008 on another virtual server located on the same physical box
The two servers:
SERVER02 (192.168.0.2) <SharePoint 2010> Win 2008 r2 Server Standard
SERVER03 (192.168.0.3) <MS SQL 2008 r2> Win 2008 r2 Server Standard
I have 2 DNS entries
A mysharepoint 192.168.0.2
A mysharepoint SERVER02
I am having a problem with authenticating on the local host (SERVER02).
When I use remote desktop to SERVER02 and connect to http://mysharepoint/ I can’t authenticate any user, including the administrator account when I attempt to log in to SharePoint. But when I go to http://SERVER02/ it works. Also http://192.168.0.2/ works too. ‘mysharepoint’ also resolves correctly when I ping it.
When I remote desktop to SERVER03 or any other computer on the LAN, I can connect to http://mysharepoint/ and authentication works correctly.
In Central Administration the Collection is mapped to both http://SERVER02/ and http://mysharepoint/. If I remove the SERVER02 mapping, it still does not work.
Note: The collection is set to “Windows Authentication”
This installation was restored from a backup, using the SharePoint Full Farm backup process.
Can anyone offer an explanation to resolve my local authentication problem.
