SharePoint 2010 Link to a Document
I have 10 documents in SharePoint library A that I linked to another repository. So a user can go to SharePoint library B and open any of the 10 documents by clicking on their links that were created using "Link to Document" content type under the New Documents button on the Ribbon. For about two weeks they worked fine but today none of them work, I get "The page cannot be found" error message. I recreate the links and get the same thing. Any suggestions as to what is causing this?

Can't use any 3rd party apps such as Fiddler, etc.
The two libraries are within the same site/web app, yes.
Files have not been deleted nor are they checked out.
The documents are excel 2010.
They do open in the browser (Office Web apps) however. Would that prevent the links from working?
Also, In the dialog box that appears when creating the new link, there is a "Click here to test" button and when I try it, the link works fine. However after I click Save and try to open it from the document library, once again I get "The page cannot be found".

By troublesdhooting I figured out the problem and the solution.
what is the link target / the URL it tries to open?
Can you use e.g. Fiddler to set the url the link tries to open?
Either change in AAM (different URL) or renaming of the library?
Are the two libraries on the same site / in the same web application?
Alternative: files have been deleted, then re-added but not checked in?
Second alternative: which type of documents? If they are e.g. word docs, perhaps someone activated Office Web Apps / opening the documents in the browser ...
