Sharepoint List Drop Down filter issue

I have a Sharepoint 2007 server and we currently have a CRM List that contains customer names, numbers, address, information, attachments, etc...

When you click on the CRM LIST on the left hand side of Sharepoint it brings it up in the All Items View. There is nothing special to this view, its just the standard.

Now above we have our normal NEW - ACTIONS - SETTINGS drop downs and below that is the TITLE COLUMN for the list.

Each Title in every Column in the list has a Name (ie. Address, Customer name, Phone number, etc... )

When you click on that top Column Name it opens a menu showing you can sort by Acsending and Decsending also below that it shows the Data in that Column (ie. customer name = shows all of our customers) and you can click on a customer your looking for and fliter it to that Customer Name.

However that is no longer an option, when you click on the Column Title it just shows Acsending and Decsending and Show Filter Choices. It no longer shows the Data within that column.

But if I click on the Phone number column it does show the data in that column and I can pick which number I want and filter it like that.

So why is it just affecting certain columns?

not that I know of, I know there are several people that go in there, what do you mean by content type? it is just single line text
Also, do you have the same behavior if you do this:

add ?filter=1 at the end of your URL.. after the aspx

Actually I think we just hit 505 as of Friday or Monday, Today is when the user noticed it so that could be it, some sort of Threshold
Yup thats it, I removed about 20 entries and now it works, Thank you for helping me figure this out, I hate the little things users come up with but at least theres documentation for it now.

Thank you again
I've requested that this question be closed as follows:

for the following reason:

Spot on, removed some entries and it came back
I dont understand why you are posting a close request and not awarding points, when the answer was spot on. Perhaps by mistake?
