ISA 2004 PPTP VPN behind Linux NAT box forward GRE & TCP1723 - still not work?

Says it all really.

Trying to configure an ISA pptp VPN. Works fine from the dmz, but cant connect from outside. i have GRE (IP protocol 47) and TCP port 1723 forwarded to the ISA box correctly.

i get error 769 when the forwarding rules are disabled, which is correct, but i get error 678 (computer did not respond) when they are enabled.

Anyone got any ideas? can this be done with ISA?
