We have a SBS 2003 and we are trying to set up RPC over HTTPs since some of the employees work from home or from offices located in a different geographical area. These employees need to have access to their emails and we do not want to provide them Outlook Web Access hence setting up RPC over HTTPs.
I have setup the RPC over HTTPs as per the URL below:
http://www.petri.co.il/configure_rpc_over_https_on_a_single_server.htmThe problem we are facing is that RPC over HTTPs works on internal clients but not on external.
Our setup is as follows:
1. DSL Modem à SonicWall Firewall TZ180W (Static IP 1 Public) à Switch à Server (DNS and DHCP enabled and running) and hard-wired computers.
2. DSL Modem à Linksys Router (Static IP 2 Public) laptops and desktops (all wireless).
Server is known internally as: SBS.netbios.local
IP: 192.168.XXX.X.
We got an SSL certificate from GoDaddy and its for mail.domainname.com. Also registered A Host Name with our domain registrar and it has a static public IP. This static public IP has been setup on the firewall so as to do a NAT to the server. SSL, SMTP, and terminal server ports have been opened up in the firewall with the access rules created.
We setup outlook on one computer (this computer is using setup 2 as documented above) via RPC over HTTPs internally and it works fine. Also ran rpcdiag on that computer and the connection is HTTPS and server name is SBS.netbios.local.
On the same desktop or any other laptop connected wirelessly if I type in
https:// mail.domainname.com, I get the welcome page for sbs 2003 with the 4 standard links. But now if I do the same from my home computer, I get an error page saying that internet explorer cannot display the webpage.
Can someone please help me fix this issue? Dont know what's wrong.
