The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Web Proxy service failed to bind its socket to 127.0.0.1 port 8080

We have recently configured SBS 2003 with dual network cards.

After running the Internet Connection Wizard in SBS 2003, we receive and error in the Event Viewer:

The Web Proxy filter failed to bind its socket to 127.0.0.1 port 8080. This may have been caused by another service that is already using the same port or by a network adapter that is not functional. To resolve this issue, restart the Microsoft Firewall service. The error code specified in the data area of the event properties indicates the cause of the failure.

All workstations and the server itself are unable to access the internet when the proxy settings are added to the connection settings for Internet Explorer. Should the proxy setting be removed the machines in question can access the internet.

It looks like ISA is denying access, we have been searching the internet for some direction in trying to resolve this issue.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
