The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Reinstalled ISA 2004 Server Now VPN Clients cannot connect.

I had to reinstalled ISA 2004 on an SBS2k3 server. I then imported a backup of the ISA's configuration to get it back up and running. Now the VPN clients cannot access the server. I've already run the CEICW to make sure SBS correctly noticed the ISA server again. I also ran the Configure remote access wizard in server management. After that I started RRAS back up but I just keep getting client computers to sit on verifying username and password. Then they get error 721 on the client. On the server's Event viewer I get the following:

Source: RemoteAccess
Event ID: 20073
The following error occurred in the Point to Point Protocol module on port: VPN4-4, UserName: <Unauthenticated User>. There are no authentication protocols available for use.

Source: Rasman
Event ID 20209
A connection between the VPN server and the VPN client 72.189.58.130 has been established, but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this is that a firewall or router between the VPN server and the VPN client is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets (protocol 47). Verify that the firewalls and routers between your VPN server and the Internet allow GRE packets. Make sure the firewalls and routers on the user's network are also configured to allow GRE packets. If the problem persists, have the user contact the Internet service provider (ISP) to determine whether the ISP might be blocking GRE packets.Start Free Trial
