Hello everyone,
First off let me just say thank you for all who can provide any thought or input on this.
The other day one of our users began to experience problems with his Dell Lattitude D830 Vista 64bit and our wireless. At first we were certain that it was a problem with his laptop since for the most part the rest of us were able to use the wireless just fine. But starting today other users were informing us that their wireless was also not working either. What the wireless will let them do is connect to the router, cruise around on our local network but the second that you try and get out onto the net the ISA server says no go.
Here is what we discovered after watching our ISA Firewall Logs. Any IP address that comes from either of our two linkys wireless routers the ISA server will block this request as it thinks that someone is trying to spoof the IP address.
We found a fix from MS that suggests that we turn off the spoofing check in the registry however we are very reluctant to turn off any security feature.
If we do turn off the spoofing check what kind of possible security threats could we face from an outside attack?
If not is there a way that we can allow the ISA server to be friendly towards our Linksys Routers?
Ok here is our network setup
IP: 10.100.x.x
Subnet 255.128.0.0
The linksys routers are on a 192.168.1.x subnet because linksys won't allow you to use a class A IP address on their devices and yes they are just the regular ones that you can pick up at any store. One of these days I will upgrade them to a business class wireless switch but for now they usually serve the purpose just fine except for anytime we need to go work on one we have to go plug into it and change our IP address to match it's subnet but thats neither here nor there. If any one has any ideas on this or what problems we could face by turning off the IP spoofing check your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you and I hope everyone has a great day.
