We have two Active Directory domains one of them running Windows 2003 and the other one running in mixed Windows 2000/2003. We have one OCS server installed and working to provide support to the Windows 2003 environment. We are planning to install a secondary OCS server in the Windows 2000/2003 environment.
We have a two way trust between the two forests. And there are not restrictions in our firewalls that will impede the communication between the two locations. We have an MPLS network.
By reading the OCS documentation looks like we will require Federation to have both forest users to be able to communicate with each other.
Our understanding is that we will require the following servers on each Forest:
One LCS server
One Access Proxy server
One Director server
Three servers on each forest for a total of six servers plus an Internet Certificate on each server (I think it is required only on the Access Proxy server) from Verisign or a similar company.
One potential option is to migrate to OCS 2007 our current server and to install another OCS 2007 server, but a migration is required and we are not sure if the current clients will be affected, or if something else is required (downlading the OCS 2007 software as I am typing).
I am having a hard time trying to justify this environment as we had only one Sametime server (in a multiple domain environment) providing service to 10k users.
I will appreciate if anybody has done something similar (I already searched this site and "Googled" this topic with very little that will give me a definitive answer) and will be willing to share your experience.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
