Question

Cannot Synchronize Address Book Information. Office Communicator 2007

I have read through countless questions in regards to this error and tried tons of the options listed but still cannot get this to work.  I will post my error logs from validation.  Thanks for the help

I just noticed this as well.  When I attempt to access this webpage

https://meeting.jackjohnson.com/Abs/Int/Handler

I get an error that says the website declined to show this webpage after prompting for credentials.

I would start with the following from your log:

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
            fe80::1%1:5061
            Suggested Resolution: Make sure that the server is listening on the
            specified IP address/Port/Transport.

and this:

Suggested Resolution: Routing trust check and/or MTLS connection
            establishment failed.
            This is usually caused by the remote server not accepting the
            certificate presented by the
            current machine. Check the local and remote server certificates for
            any
            misconfiguration. In addition, check whether the local server is
            recognized
            as a trusted server by the remote server.

You could try and follow his steps. It is a very methodical troubleshooting.

I added a new certificate and now I get prompted to enter credentials to access the address book.  I type in my credentials and it takes them but I still get the same error.

Suggested Resolution: Please set a valid certificate for IIS default web site. Additionally, ensure that certificate subject name is the same as web farm FQDN.

This is the error that I am receiving which is very strange because the cert is there.

Cert is on the default IIS website? And for meeting.jackjohnson.com?
I assume you have a private certificate Authority if you can add a new certificate?
Then maybe the problem is that the clients doesn't know and trust this CA.
You have to install the root certificate on each client.
On the client machine go to http://FQDN of your CA/certsrv
Choose "Download a CA certificate, certificate chain, or CRL"
Choose "Download CA certificate chain"
Right click on the file you have just downloaded and "Install the Certificate"

That is correct. The clients must trust the CA. If the machines are all XP based machines, then only Verisign or GeoTrust certificates normally work.

Update.  Contacted Microsoft on the issue and learned a lot.  Basically it comes down to the fact that this application cannot be installed on a server that has any other applications installed on it. It is meant to be installed on a fresh clean install of Server 2003.  My problem was that this server used to have sharepoint and virtual server installed on it.  Even if you uninstall these products it still will not work.  I did a clean install of the operating system and immediately the address book synchronized.  Thanks for your help on this one.
