I have a single server OCS 2007 setup, standard edition. No public IM, just the IM/Conferencing server. I have maybe 30 users, using communicator 2007. My SSL certificate (in house cert) is about to expire. I want to renew the certificate and make sure there are no connectivity issues for my users. Can someone give me some pointers on the process to renew the cert. I know how to apply a new cert to the server, but there is no option in the wizard to renew the existing cert. I assume I have to generate a new certificate and apply at the server itself, then get the users to update their local cert with the new one. I just want to make sure I do things in the right order, as I don't want to interrupt users of the system. How can I apply a new cert without kicking all existing users off the system?

Thats what I thought and was hoping for, but back when I set this up when OCS 2007 just came out, the documentation on certificates was soooo bad! At least I found some good info on the process this time online before doing anything. I was able to apply a new cert with no problems, everything is good! Thanks!

you can go a couple of ways
- renew the cert through the certificates mmc
- use the OCS certificate gui to remove the certificate and then create a new one with the same details
either way will take 2 minutes
the clients do not need to be updated... your updating the server cert(s).... as long as the clients still trust the issuing authority (which if its an internal enterprise CA they will) you dont have to do a thing.
