The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I completely remove Office Communicator 2007 and get Communicator 2005 working again?

Asked by BrianBowlin in Live/Office Communications Server, Office & Productivity Software

We have a Office Live Communications 2005 Server in our environment that now no longer will start the Live Communications Server service after installing and removing Communicator 2007 on another server.

The errors in the App log on the LC 2005 Server are as follows.
Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      Live Communications Server WMI Consumer
Event Category:      (1002)
Event ID:      14404
Date:            3/31/2009
Time:            9:09:36 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      SERVER-SPS1
Description:
Error adding access proxy.

Failed to add access proxy: server.domainname.com.
Resolution:
Ensure that the same computer is not configured for another role.

Description:
Server could not retrieve its initial configuration for a class from the WMI Provider.

Class: MSFT_SIPEdgeProxySetting
Cause: This can occur if the connection to Active Directory or SQL back-end database is down or if permissions to the service account are altered. Retrieval can also fail if an invalid entry is entered in the class using the UI or WMI or if corruption occurs in local WMI repository.
Resolution:
Make sure the account the service is running under has proper privileges and that connection to Active Directory or SQL back-end database is functional. Verify an identical entry does not exist as a direct federation partner and an IM service provider.

Could someone please help me understand what needs to happen to deactivate the OCS2007 server and repair the LC 2005 server?

Thank you.
