LCS Activation

Recently our LCS svr 2003 stop working, event viewer shows ID 16417 unable to initalize protocol stack (error code is 0xc0410805 (machine name has been changed since LCS was installed) please uninstall and reinstall.
I have no problem reinstalling it but microsoft say it has to be registered online and the product is not supported anymore, i.e. you need to upgrade to new version.
Anyone come across this or know away around problem other than upgrading to Office Communication SVR 2007.

Check the resolution section of the following KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974571 and apply the fix mentioned.

thank you for your response, but I was able to resolve the issue.  Evidently the security update KB974571 had been applied just before the LCS server went down, an associate informed me that a similar problem had occurred with another LCS 2003 server and when security update KB974571 was removed the LCS server started working again.  I tried it and now my LCS server is working, here is a link when you google this update. http://blogs.msdn.com/mssmallbiz/archive/2009/10/14/known-issue-with-kb974571-and-lcs-ocs-read-before-installing.aspx
