Hi sramesh,
If you right click and select open, it opens no problem. The first option when right-clicking is 'autoplay' though.

Browse All TopicsHi,
I see this problem on 2 workstations. I have 2 drives mapped to a server (serv1\files) that bring up the 'Open with' dialog box. If I browse to the drive through \\serv1\files, it opens up fine. If I tell it to use explorer.exe it will open fine too.
Drives mapped from another server on these pcs open fine. The same mapped drives open fine from different workstations. So it appears to be a problem only on 2 workstations with one server.
I have seen a few people with the same problem here on EE. But the solutions given didn't work.
There were now inf files on the root level of the drive.

>> What would have caused this to happen, is it something in Server 2003?
Most likely due to a Malware infestation. The file name "folder.exe" is suspicious which makes me think it's a malware/worm/virus laden file. The file may have been removed by your anti-virus software, but the remnant "AutoPlay" entry was possibly causing this problem.

Hi sherryfitzgroup,
What is the default action shown when you right-click that mapped drive? Does choosing "open" help?
