The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Slow network transfer speeds on some workstations but not all

I have a network of approximately 20 users. I have an SBS 2003 Standard Server which is used as a DC, Exchange and File Server. Recently some of the users on the network but not all are experiencing very very slow network data transfer speeds. The workstation hardware is not standard in other words i cannot determine if it is specific to one type of hardware or not because almost every workstation is different. I tried plugging my laptop into one of the network jacks where the throughput was good and tested by copying a large file from the server to my laptop and seeing approximately how long it takes. Then I took my laptop and connected it to a port where the transfer speeds are very slow but when I used my laptop everything worked well. I have a Dell PowerConnect 2724 in unmanaged mode. I am fairly confident that the switch is operating correctly and that there are no problems with the physical cabling. One other important note is I just update the SBS server to the recently released SP2 for Windows 2003. Any suggestions? When I talk about slow speeds it will take about 45min to transfer 20mb from the server to a workstation. Start Free Trial
