The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. HP Proliant M330 G3 server keeps re-booting every 10 days or so!

The hard ware:
HP Proliant M330 G3 server.
Raid 1 ATA 100 80Gig Max hard drives

OS: Windows 2000 server all updates and service packs. This a Data server only.

Software: MS SQL,  Timberline,  Tight VNC,  Bullet Proof  FTP server,  MCI Check writer Yosemite Backup client and Workgroupshare.

Problem: This server has been running for several years with no problems. I do usual cleaning and maintenance but that's about all. About Two months ago the server re-booted on it's own.  I could not determine the cause. What was strange was at the Login screen  an Error message dialog box stated the the Application Log File is full and gave directions on how to clear it. I cleared all Log files check all services for running and called it a Quirk.

This re-booting now takes place about every TEN days. It seams to be a controlled re-boot. There are no check disk files nor does check disk run during re-boot.  I always get the Error warning about the  Application Log File being full during startup.  

Question: Has anyone had a HP M330 G3 server act this way? The BIOS setting for re-booting a none responsive server have anything to do with this? If so why every TEN days or so.
