no more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept

Hi all.

We are having a problem with one of our clients servers. They are running Windows 2003 Small Business Server with Service Pack 2. They are getting the error message, "no more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept" when trying to browse shares on the server. They are also getting Exchange License errors on the workstations when trying to open their Outlook's. This problem is now progressively getting worse and client profiles are not loading correctly. Mapped drives are inaccessable. I have checked to ensure that the shares on the server are setup to allow the maximum allowed number of connections. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hi Olaf.

I have checked and it appears that this keeps changing. At the moment its showing as having 5 installed and maximum usage is 4. Although previously it showed as having 5 installed and maximum usage of 12.

We have never had a problem with this before and this server has been running for several years. Why would it suddenly start now? Nothing appears to have changed.

Thanks for your replies.

It does seem that we need more cals, but I am confused. They have not added any extra systems or users and this has never been a problem before. Why would it suddenly start happening?
SBS looks at MAX concurrent connections to resources... they may have changed the way they work and are now using the server more and this more users are accessing the server at the same time.
It appears that the SBS had lost the installed Cals. I have re-installed them and all of the server problems have now been resolved. Many thanks for your help.
