RIS Unattended PnP Driver Installation Problem on Dell Optiplex 755

Hi Everyone,

I have recently subscribed (today actually) to this site and this is my first question so if its been asked in the wrong way, I apologise.

I am currently tasked with the roll-out of a RIS installation onto 40+ Dell Optiplex 755 machines within the company. Having a regular understand of RIS and working with it I am getting pretty frustraited.

The problem I am facing is that once the RIS installation image has been rolled out, it doesn't install the 3rd Party drivers that i've specified in the OemPnPDriversPath = Drivers in the [Unattended] section of the sif file. So, the following is information on what i've tried and this question may form a few questions in the process.

1.) Drivers have been placed in $oem$\$1\Drivers folder

2.) Have completed the [Unattended] section as follows:
[Unattended]
    UnattendMode = FullUnattended
    OemSkipEula = Yes
    OemPreinstall = Yes
    TargetPath = \WINDOWS
    FileSystem = LeaveAlone
    NtUpgrade = No
    OverwriteOemFilesOnUpgrade = No
    KeyboardLayout = "United Kingdom"
    DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore
    OemPnPDriversPath = Drivers\aud\HDAudio;Drivers\chipset\ChipsetDr;Drivers\mod\D850856;Drivers\nic\IntelNew;Drivers\vid\IntelG3G

3.) Have copied the .sif file into both /i386/templates and /i386 folders.

4.) Have stopped and started the binlsvc service each time i've made a change.

5.) Have ensured that the drivers are the correct ones for the machine (as supplied on CD with the machine).

6.) Have tried putting " before and after the drivers string and without the " encase this was causing the problem (btw...what is the significance of the " in the .sif file sections?).

The Installation itself is rolling out fine (after getting around the RIS Text LAN driver problem). I'm rolling out Windows XP SP2 image if that helps.

The drivers directory itself is actually being copied to C drive so its getting part of the way, just not installing the drivers.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or have they come across this before.

Any help on this would be appreciated.Start Free Trial
