DFS replication not working properly

We have 2 Windows 2003 R2 servers doing DFS replication across a 2Mb WAN link.

DFS replication mostly works but there are some errors:

1) It can take 48 hours for files to replicate. Not all but some.

2) User Login times have increased dramatically - up to 10 minutes!

3) Sometimes users are redirected to their My Documents folders on the far side of the WAN link not the DFS share on the local subnet.

We are using Roaming Profiles and Folder Redirection for users Home folders.

I've looked in DFS diagnostics but am not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for..!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
