Hi, and thanks for reading!
I have my modem connected directly to a Windows Server 2008 box with 3 network adapters on it. What I want to do is to to dial the PPPoE connection using RRAS on the server, and then share that connection via a switch. Effectively, the network will look something like this:
PPPoE | |-----| | RRAS | |-----| | Switch | |-----| | Clients/WAP
I have tried going through the RRAS wizards and configuring it manually. Using the wizard, I have been selecting the option to enable NAT on the server. I then proceed to configure a demand-dial interface as my external adapter and I set the adapter connected to my switch as the private network adapter. My IP configurations are as follows:
External adapter: 192.168.2.2
Internal adapter: 192.168.1.200
Internal switch: 192.168.1.1
DHCP Clients: 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.1.100
What really puzzles me is that once I've configured it like this, once I dial the PPPoE connection using RRAS, even my server has no internet connection itself. When I configure a demand-dial interface by adding it as a connection to the internet using the "Connect to a Network" wizard, it connects with no problems. Obviously doing that I cannot use RRAS to share the internet connection, however.
Any help or comments that my help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated!
