Exchange Server 2003 Management Tools on Windows Server 2008

I just brought up a new PDC on Windows Server 2008.  I have a separate Exchange Server running Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2003.  How can I view the Exchange tabs in ADUC on my new Server 2008 machine??

Right, EX2003 will not work on Server 2008.

Anyone have any other ideas or workarounds?
I assume you are asking because you don't always have convenient access to the E2003 server?  You could make a remote desktop connection to it.  Or install the management console on a workstation.
That is correct.  If its not possible at this point in Windows Server Evolution, i guess i will have to wait.
Hi,
What version of W08 are you running - x86 or x64?
It's worthy to try copying the following files:
address.dll
escprint.dll
exchmem.dll
glblname.dll
maildsmx.dll
pttrace.dll
netui0.dll
netui1.dll
netui2.dll
from the Exchange bin folder and registering maildsmx.dll:
regsvr32 \windows\system32\maildsmx.dll

If you are running the x64 version, copy the files to %systemroot%\SysWOW64 folder and run the regsvr32 from %systemroot%\SysWOW64 folder.

I haven't tried this yet. If you decide to test it, I would appreciate your feedback.

Regards,

Dean
After copying the following files to C:\Windows\System32 on my 2008 box:
address.dll
escprint.dll
exchmem.dll
glblname.dll
maildsmx.dll
pttrace.dll

I registered maildsmx.dll.  Now i get the following error when opening ADUC on the 2008 server.  It forces mmc to close and will not work.

Microsoft Active Directory Exchange Extension
The specified module could not be found

Facility: Win32

Microsoft Active Directory - Exchange Extension

What version of Windows Server 2008 - x86 or x64 are you running?

Dean
I am running x86.
You can always unregister the dll:
regsvr32 /u \windows\system32\maildsmx.dll

I'll give it a try and see what's happening.

Dean
I did unregister and am back to normal now.  I also noticed that the files that you mentioned; netui0.dll; netui1.dll; netui2.dll were not in my exchange bin directory.  Thanks for the help.

I did the following and it is working for me:

Copy the following files from the Exchange 2003 computer bin directory to the system32 directory on the Server 2008 computer:
address.dll
escprint.dll
exchmem.dll
glblname.dll
maildsmx.dll
pttrace.dll

Copy the following files from Exchange 2003 computer system32 directory to the system32 directory on the Server 2008 computer:
netui0.dll
netui1.dll
netui2.dll

Type the following at an ELEVATED command prompt:
regsvr32 \windows\system32\maildsmx.dll

This procedure will need to be modified if used on a 64 bit version of windows.
How do I accomplish this in Windows Server 2008R2 64bit?

I copied the above-named files from exchange 2003 to the win2008R2 srv.
But when I tried to register maildsmx.dll like this way
C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\maildsmx.dll
I get the following error:
The module "c:\windows\system32\maildsmx.dll" failed to load.
Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.
The specified module could not be found.
In general on a 64 version of a Windows OS 32 bit files actually go in the SysWOW64 directory. Move them there and and try again.
copied the files in the syswow64 directory.
After Regsvr32 maildsmx.dll the error
The procedure entry point I_NetNameCanonicalize could not be located in the dynamic link library NETAPI32.dll.
appears.
thanks for response
I am also getting the above error when trying this "hack"

anyone in the last two years resolved the issue with Exchange 2003 features on server 2008?
