removing then rejoigning the computer

Hi
last time my server crashed and one of the computers loose the connection with event id 5723
one of the answer that i must rejoin the computer to the server..but if i do that i will loose all the settings and all my preferences because i will create the same user sam@localdomain after create the same user it will be sam@localdomain.000
how i can move the old settings emails,my desktop etc..
means it is like i did not create a new user..i have xp as workstation and server 2000 family Start Free Trial
