vista mapped to server 2003 drives

Asked by peterjheller in Microsoft Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista

I'm running Vista business and use Quickbooks 2006 and an old version of dreamweaver ; on loading both of these programs I get a message that an unidentified proram wants to use the system  - say OK and they  load - all OK except that if I double click on a data file on a mapped drive - it loads the program but says it can't find the data file - and i have to identify the file as \\server\folder to load it - works OK then - but is there a way to make Vista recognise the mapped/network drive properly for the old programs as it does for newer ones like xls

connection to server is VPN
problem does not exhibit with XP
