Experts,
I work in a manufacturing plant. We are upgrading our server and database from Windows NT to Oracle 8i to Windows 10g and Server 2003. We need to find the most seamless and effective method of performing this migration.
Our current plan is to remove the old server from the AD then assign the new server to have the same IP address as the old server, but assign a new name to the new server.
Our concerns are that it takes 45 minutes to replicate the in the AD. Our AD is structured as corporate level -> Plant level -> then Department level. We only have admin rights on the Department level. So if we try to add the server before the AD has been replicated it will put us into the Plant Level which we do not have rights to.
1. How do we speed or force the replication?
2. How do we verify the replication is complete?
We have numerous apps all over the plant that point to the server and it is not feasible to modify all of the TNS files.
Thank You
Dan Hebert
