If the OLDSERVER has gone done without been demoted correctly, you nead to do a metadata cleanup

Failed to open the group policy object. You may not have appropriate rights. The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
I get the following error whenever I try to open Domain Controller Security Policy, Domain Security Policy
Failed to open the group policy object. You may not have appropriate rights. The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
When I try to open active directory sites and services I see an old server listed. When I try to delete I get a message "Do not delete the OLDSERVER container object. OLDSERVER contains objects representing domain controller OLDSERVER and possibly other domain controlelrs. To delete these objects, demote the domain controllers usering Active Directory Installation Wizard (DCPROMO). If the domain controllers represented by these objects are permanently offline and can no longer be demoted using the Active Installation Wizard (DCPROMO), you must delete them one at a time.

I was able to delete the old server listing and now can open the groups but I get a red x
