Browse All TopicsI have a Poweredge 2800 (Windows 2003) server that was working fine but suddenly I get the following message;
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure Check Cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent
The following appear in the booting sequence;
1. Diskette Drive
2. IDE CD-Rom Device (checked)
3.Embedded GB NIC1 IBA GE Slot 0B38 v1226 (checked)
In other words, no hard drive appear in the booting sequence.
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks,

This is happening because the Hard Drive is not being detected (thus it's being skipped, and moving to the next step in the boot sequence, which is network booting), try some DELL disk diagnostics tools, checking the cables to hard drives are connected properly... but there is a good chance that your hard drive has died.
Looks like your bios doesn't see your hard drive any more. If you haven't changed anything, your hard drive may have crashed. Go into setup, and view your devices, and if your bios has a hard drive test, run it. There is a great diagnostic program called Belarc advisor...you can try to load it on a CD (and make it bootable) from another computer...one way or another you will need to test your hard drive...from without windows if it doesn' t boot. And of course, the obvious, ...do check the cables. And if for some reason it's just not seeing the operating system, you can reset the bios...but that's only if it DOES see the hard drive and NOT the operating system.
