Multiple ICA session for the same user
I have a client that is experiencing a weird problem that just start to happen few days ago.
No one have changed / modified any settings but some users start getting Multiple ICA session for the same user.
Please check the attached image for details.
This created 2 problems.
1. it limit the number of available TS to out clinets
2. the users with Multiple ICA session can't print because their printers also on 2 sessions. carrying the same session ID
I checked the config for reach individual application and they are identical - no doubt about that
What Can I do ?? to get this issue fixed ???
Thanks
Adam

Are you using roaning profiles? Perhaps profiles not cleaning up and lingering out in the farm?

Good point, I will check that and I will get back to you. Thanks for your help
Are the users connected to different application using same session id? It could be the reason of Session Sharing. Actually Session sharing reduces the number of Citrix license consumption. If the same user with 4 different application using same session id will consume one license only.
For more information on Session sharing, you can check citrix site and to know when session sharing fails, you can refer the below article

We need to investigate on the printing part.

well, the issue is that for some reason the session sharing fails and that generate a duplicate session for some users. I'm not using Program Neighborhood / Program Neighborhood Agent Client.
I'm using the web interface to let my clients connect and I have only one PS 4.0 server.
The only good recommendations I found on CTX159159 is to:
1. Download the latest citrix web client
2. Check and make sure all published applications have the same:
Color depth
Screen Size
Access Control Filters (for SmartAccess)
Sound
Drive Mapping
Printer Mapping
witch I did, but still no luck.
The users are connected to different application using the same session. (about 5 or 6 apps in the session) but why duplicating ?? if the session has limit on how may apps can carry then I should see different apps on the other session but not the same!
any suggestions ?

OK, I understand the concept of "Session Sharing" but when you right click and view the content of the session you will find it contain exactly same apps. & when you delete the session it will delete the second session (the copy one) with it.
Is this normal ? if so ; why it creates duplicate printers ?
I have seen other people have the same issue without solution.

The client keep insisting that he have not seen the session duplicates before. but what you guys are saying make sense. since the session is using the same ID that means it is not consuming any extra TS licensing and that is what I care most. any way, as for the printers. We have created a policy that will force printer auto-creation for the specific users that are effected form this session sharing and it seems to be working.
ASKER
just to be specific about the printer policy that we have created for the effected users:
1. Native printer driver auto-install - enabled
2. Universal driver - enabled only when driver is unavailable.
3. Session printers - enabled - Set default to the client's main printer.
this policy is for PS 4.0 and it should be the same on Xenapp.
