ntbackup via scheduled tasks
Our admin use the ntbackup facility to backup windows server data. I think they schedule it via scheduled tasks. 1 ) Will the scheduled task show where the backup file is being written too? And 2) is there any easy way to report all currently configured scheudled tasks on our 115 or so windows servers in a single report - which must include the exact detail of the task as per point 1.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntback
Thanks Thorin - just to clarify - which part of this command shows the exact path the output file is going to?
As Im not a backup admin, which the BKF "go somewhere" with all other BKF's before it is written to tape? Like a temp storage location? If so why is this - and why dont admins just write a BKF directly to tape via scheduled tasks.
Excuse my ignorance.

>>You can use "schtasks /query /FO CSV /V >> output.csv" to export the information to a CSV.
Is that for local sch tasks on the machine the command is executed?

This is the location of the file
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\BackupNam e.bks
You can write NTbackup to tape (I'm pretty sure), so if each server has a tape drive they could go directly there rather than a local destination or UNC.
You will need to use psexec to push that command to each server. http://ss64.com/nt/psexec.html

Is it common for each server to have its own tape library? Or typically one library per environment?
What is an UNC in laymans terms?
If a server doesnt have a tape library where does the BKF sit ready to go to tape - as a rule?
Would you need admin rights on the server to run psexec or could that data be enumerated with normal domain user privs?

I dont suppose you could do a quick workflow of the backup and restore process when ntbackup is used in management speak so I can grasp it a bit better

You can use "schtasks /query /FO CSV /V >> output.csv" to export the information to a CSV.
You can use psexec to run the command against all the servers and point the output to a share or mapped drive. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897553
