Apply updates to my Windows Server 2008 R2 offline.

Hi Experts,

I would like to apply windows updates to my Windows 2008 R2 server. It is not connected to the internet and can not be connected. Does the Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) provided by Microsoft work for offline servers?

I have been looking at 'WSUS Offline Update' provided by http://www.wsusoffline.net/ and 'Portable Update' provided by http://www.portableupdate.com/ as non microsoft offline updater software but would prefer to use a microsoft service if they provide one.

this server might not be but what about another one where you can install WSUS?
this server doesn't need internet access to use an internal WSUS server; the WSUS server collects the updates and makes them available for internal clients; the clients run windows update against the WSUS server with no need for internet access

Seth Simmons,

Is it possible to install WSUS server on the offline network (or is it already installed as part of Win 2008 r2 Server), and then download the updates from the microsoft website onto a memory stick and then load them onto WSUS on the offline server and update the network?
You can download service pack one on another system that is connected and then install it on the one that is not http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842. As for all the other updates you would have to download them individually (and then transfer them)  if you don't use WSUS on a system that is connected.

This is the point of my question. How do I do this?
You ahve to get a list of all the updates, at a place like this, then download them one by one http://www.windows-update-checker.com/Lists/2008R2.htm. Click on the links in the column "Link to  KB-Article" (not the hotfix links) and then download them one by one. This also assumes that this website has the complete list--you may have to find a list of Microsoft's website (sure they have it somewhere). here is the result of a search I did http://www.bing.com/search?q=list+all+windows+server+2008+r2+updates&FORM=AWRE&adlt=strict

So am I correct in thinking that the Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) can not be used to update offline servers.
