The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

RDP login on Thin Client not allowing Domain Login

Windows Server 2003 Terminal Servers, HP T5710 Thin Clients with Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc v.6.0.6000.16386)

I've seen a number of very similar questions but I seem to have added complications.

We have recently bought a number of second hand thin clients  to replace some older ones we have.  I was trying to set them up with RDPs on the desktop to our 2 terminal servers, but found the RDP login settings screen is different to the other T5000 series thin clients we use.

The General tab doesn't allow us to type in the username and domain.  From reading the other similar posts I can see this is a 'feature' of the v6 RDP program.

The problem we have is that when we type in the Terminal server name or IP Address, it then asks for the users name and password to log on to the Terminal Server locally.  As our users are not local users of the Terminal Servers,  we get an error message saying the username and password is incorrect - click on OK and THEN we get the conventional username password and domain login  window.  We can then change the 'Log on to..." from the Terminal Server to the domain, and we're away laughing.

Is there something really stupid we're missing? We don't want our users to have to log in 3 times before they can log on!Start Free Trial
