Revoke a device License

I have 1 Terminal server (win 2k3 R2) and 10 device CAL's.  The problem i have is all the licenses have been handed out but 2 of the computers they have been given to are local machines that i have used to log on to do some admin with.  One of my colleagues cant login anymore as all ten have been assigned.  I really need to know how to free atleast one up.  The nearest CAL to expire is Febraury which is way too long to wait.

Is there a way to clear the wrongly assigned CAL's?

Nope. You will have to wait.
As a workaround, on the PCs that cannot connect anymore, delete the MSLicensing registry key and you should be ok.

The only problem with this is its a home user thats having the problem so i wouldnt be to confident they could delete the MSLicense key.  DO you have any simple instructions?

The Terminal Server was originally a 2000 Server which is why i had to buy device CAL's.  Is there anyway of changing these to User CALS?

Thanks again.

Originally when i setup the Terminal Server it was a 2000 server however the OS has been upgraded to 2003 R2.

Would Microsoft change my licenses to per user?

Can a license server run device cals and user cals?

Sorry for bombarding you with questions.
A licensing server can have both per user and per device license packs.
On the TS itself, run TSCC.MSC and set there if you want that particular TS to use per user or per device licensing.
I am not sure if Microsoft would change your licenses. I would assume they would NOT.
As you are now on 2003, make sure the licensing server is a 2003 as well.

This removes the registry entry but the device still appears on the terminal server manager list!
