setting up remote desktop with netgear router

Asked by paulCardiff in Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, Network Routers, Networking Hardware Firewalls

Hi

I've signed up for a dyn dns account and got subdomain of xxx.getmyip.com

I have a netgear wireless router and it has an option on it to use dyndns with it.
I've set this up and this all works,
so basically, i can ping my subdomain and it resolves to my home router

I think this dyndns bit is irrelvent so lets just pretend i have a static IP

i want to remote desktop from work to home
My computer IP on the internal network is 192.168.1.3

What do i have to do to get this working
Do i need some sort of rule to forward to my PC on my internal network when i try and Remote desktop
what would i be looking for on the router?Start Free Trial
