If you have a terminal server and are trying to login from a mac you have to download the mac client:  http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx

If you are just trying to RDP between a mac and an XP/Vista computer you may have to look at a mac compatable 3rd party software such as gotomypc or logmein.

Actually that mac client says it can log you into any windows based computer set up with RDP which would be a terminal server, 2003 server, vista, or XP computer.  I have not tried with XP/vista though.

From a Mac to a Windows machine (XP Pro, Windows Server 2003/2008 and Windows 2000 Server) all you need is the Remote Desktop Client for Mac. Simply look for MacMojo on Google and you will get to their downloads page.
From a PC to a Mac, there is no RDP listener or similar on Macs. Macs use VNC. On the PC you will need a VNC Client (just look for VNC on google); on the Mac you need to enable screen sharing (System Preferences | Sharing | Screen Sharing).
