The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

sound problem: ESX with win 2003 host in terminal server monde when playing a wave file on the win xp sp2 guest pc windows media player>"no sound device available"

Asked by ChoobsTech in Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, Windows 2003 Server, VMware

Tags: , , ,

I have:
host: server with vmware ESX 3.0.2
guest: windows 2003 standard with terminal server
user: pc with windows xp
the connection between the user pc and server 100mbps switched

on the client sound is enabled
on the server ther rdp protocol is set to allow sound

esx officialy states there is no hadware emulation for sound for vmware ESX.
I tried any way "http://www.vmware.com/support/ace/doc/vidsound_soundcfg_ace.html" to install the creative driver any way ID:21737022 (link not working but in the archive of creative website picked the same model) >failed with please install hardware first.
then i read this ID:22447633 stating "On the server side, TS does not even need a sound card as it all goes through a virtual sound driver."
so my proble is I do not have sound hardware on the server but I have sound hardware on the clients.
I would like to enable sound within the ts sessions.
Is there any way to achieve this ?

Thanks for any hint or help.

(responses in eng, ger, fr are ok for me)
