The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I correctly assign Terminal Server license CALs?

Asked by dsanta in Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, Windows 2003 Server

This company has 1 Windows 2003 Terminal Server, I had been having licensing issues because it was set to per device and the temporary licenses were expiring. I changed the server to per user and was going to buy the licenses but before that I found 5 retail device CALs and 20 volume device CALs. So now I have 25 device CALs that I need to use because it has been far to long to return them.

With that being said, I have 27 desktops that will be connecting to the server for sure and a few laptops probably as well as a few external consultat PCs.

Since I am stuck with these 25 CALs I basically need to move forward in a per device model and do it correctly. Please correct me if I am wrong but if I switch it back to per device every time a new PC logs onto the Terminal Server it will claim a CAL and can't be moved. Because of this I want to make sure only the PCs I want to have a CAL are logging on.

So what is the best way to go about makng sure I do this correctly and the right CALs are assigned to the right people?Start Free Trial
