The Solution Rating System
|
|
| With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site. If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support. Thank you! |

Asked by stormstar in Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, SBS Small Business Server, Windows Server 2008
Hi Guys and Girls
Just looking for some advice if I may. We have a client that has a few offices around the country and we're now centralizing their setup so there will be a Terminal Server at the Head Office. This will be running SBS 2008 Premium Edition (and the 2nd server you need to install with SBS 2008 Premium will be the Terminal Server). They will have about 10 client PC's at the head office and at the other 5 sites they will have about 4 PC's at each location. These will all be running XP Pro.
The aim is to have them do everything through their TS so we can manage backups etc. Basically I just want to know if I should attach ANY of the client PC's to the domain? If I want the remote PC's to do that I obviously need them to connect via a VPN. I can see advantages to this as I can then install an Anti-Virus Package that can be centrally managed... I can also remotely access all those PC's without having to worry about "Port Forwards" and changing "Listening Ports" etc... But in doing this will I be causing speed issues or would it perform better? What's general practice??? Attach to domain or not? Or should I just attach the local ones in the Head Office to the domain and then manage the others individually?
Sorry about the long winded question... Your suggestions are appreciated.
