RDP file association lost

two users in the last week running Windows XP report that they are unable to open RDP files due to "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action."

This is an easy fix of course by associating RDP files with the Remote Desktop application, but I've never seen this on a vanilla XP workstation and I'm just wondering what may have caused this behavior. Was there a Windows Update that broke this perhaps?

I don't like to say commonplaces, but Windows is well known for its auto-breaking capabilities... Get accustomed to this behaviours
