"the remote computer has ended the connection"

Asked by HM2K in Remote Desktop/Terminal Services

Tags: rdp, remote desktop, connection

I log into a remote Windows XP Pro machine, it allows me to log on, and start displaying the screen, before displaying the following error:

"the remote computer has ended the connection"

I am provided with two options, OK or Help.

Neither are helpful.

Does anyone have a suggestion how to resolve this?

Restarting the machine does resolve the issue for a short time, however, the problem eventually returns.

The error also changes sometimes to:

"The remote session to the remote computer was ended by means of an administration tool. Your administrator might have ended your connection."

I am the administrator, and nobody else is using the computer.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
