Asked by Handle29 in Microsoft Server, Remote Desktop/Terminal Services
I just upgraded my home computer to windows 7 professional (x64) and there are times when i am at home and have to remote into a server at work that is on a static IP. Usually once i have started my VPN i can open up remote desktop type in the name of the server and it will connect. Last night it would not connect to the computer in question unless i put in the IP address.
I tried remoting into our other two servers using the computer name instead of the IP address and it worked fine. To see if it was isoloated to my computer at home, i also remoted into my workstation and used the RDP from that machine and was able to access the server in question with out having to use the IP address.
The server in question is running server 2003 sp2
