The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I tried iisreset at a command prompt and that didn't fix

Looks like you are accessing the page from the server itself... Have you tried accessing the page from the clients ???

Also make sure the user has "Remote Web Workplace" permission. Basically the user has to be member of the group...

Also your ip address shouldnt be 127.0.0.1 when you are accessing from a client...something wrong..

Can you post your ipconfig /all results ?

Vinod.

Exchange web access works wonderfully. I have Small Business Server 2003 Standard With Symantec Mail Security. I found an article that I guess sharepoint and Mail Security both use port 8081. The strange thing is that my mail security works. I recently added mail security and am not totally sure but believe it was working prior. Right now I am in the process of uninstalling mail security. I also found it interesting that apparently remote web workplace is not the only page where I get "page cannot be found". I was also in server management and many of the items there now say the same thing.

I am also trying removing intranet and reinstalling with Microsoft Windows Small Business Server setup

Look at the host header and port values in IIS for various page you are not able to connect and try to connect to the same with 192.168.20.3:portno.

Hmm that didn't work but I went through the  configure e-mail and internet connection wizard in the to do list and i get an error when I tried configuring firewall configuration.

I also get the following error

Internet Connection Configuration Status
An error occured while configuring a component
To continue with the wizard and configure remaining components, click OK
To end the wizard without configuring the remaining componets, click cancel.

I clicked ok

Hmm....OK did you find the host header and port number for each virtual server and then try them out manually ???

You can not run two sites on the same IP and port.  Go into the IIS MMC (Start, Run, iismgr.msc) and check the port numbers.  If both use the same port and IP, change one of the ports (Ex: change the exchange port to 8888).   Then call the page like so:

http://127.0.0.1:8888/exchange/

Also, look closely at this, from your posting:
http://127.0.0.1/exchange/
https://127.0.0.1/Remote/
^  <-- are you running SSL?  Does the remote web workplace require SSL?  Check that in the IIS MMC also

02.06.2006 at 01:52PM PST, ID: 15887419
Harperse,
You can run 2 different website in the same IP and port. You can use host header to separate the site which is what SBS does. Please read about host headers.

And FASTECHS,
Please DO NOT DO NOT change the port for exchange as it could cause several other problems..In SBS a lot of links are hardcoded and will not work if you manually change ports on IIS.

Vinod.

mvvinod,

Sorry, not an expert in SBS2003.  I bow out gracefully.

Hi guys...

There is no host header for RWW.  It runs off a virtual directory on the default web site.
Symantec Mail Security runs on port 8081 which is the same as Sharepoint Central Administration, not Companyweb.  You must change this by installing the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange console, and then use this console to change the port for the Web site.

So... FASTECHS, if you're getting an error with the CEICW, then you need to resolve that error.  Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Suppor\icwlog.txt and see what is listed as an ERROR.  You can post those lines here if you need help in resloving.

Then, if you're getting a 404 error on http://127.0.0.1/remote --- check to make sure that both the Virtual directory AND the actual directory exist.

The virtual directory can be confirmed by opening IIS Manager and expanding Web Sites > Default Web Site.  There should be a virtual directory called "Remote".  If you right click on that and select properties and then the Home Directory tab, it should show C:\Inetpub\remote in the Local Path box.
Then, make sure that C:\Inetpub\remote actually exists and there are files in that folder.

I ended up using the small business server uninstall feature in add/remove programs and uninstalling the intranet component. I also renamed the inetpub directory and removed iis using windows components in add/remove programs. I reinstalled everything and everything was back to normal. Something must have gotten jazzed.

Well, that's the right thing to do and would have been my course of action after reviewing the items I listed above... glad it all worked out!
